RECYCLING GUIDELINES
Contact our Customer Care Department at (512) 421-1340 for any questions on residential recycling service.
HOW TO RECYCLE
- Place
all recyclable items in your TDS provided recycling bin (clear and opaque plastic bottles and jugs,
glass, metal and newspaper).
- Use only
your TDS recycle bin. We are
not allowed to service a competitor’s property.
- Rinse
containers and place the lids in your garbage.
- Flatten
cans and plastic containers to reduce overfilling the recycling bin.
- Place
newspapers on top of the bin.
On
windy days place a brick or other heavy object on top of your newspapers.
Newspapers will be accepted even on
rainy days.
- Place
your recycling at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
- Keep
your recycling bin about 3 feet away from your garbage if it is collected
on the same day.
- Avoid
an overflowing recycle bin on pickup day. Place your bins out for collection frequently.
Bins containing
non-recyclable items will have those items left in the bin after
collection. Recycling
centers consider non-recyclable items as “contamination”. Please be a good neighbor and consult
your “What to Recycle” guidelines when in doubt.

WHAT TO RECYCLE
PLASTIC
Check 3 things to determine if a clear or
opaque plastic item is
recyclable:

- Type
of Plastic: Determine that your item is a bottle then check the
bottom for a #1 or #2 with the recycling arrows around it. Only bottles made from #1 or #2
plastic can be recycled.
Other plastic items may have these numbers but only
bottles are recyclable.
